Senior Spotlight: Quincie Howard

|

Senior Quincie Howard splits her time between doing schoolwork and creating content as a budding social media influencer.

In addition to developing her skills through her Public Relations (PR) major and Communication Studies minor, she posts on TikTok and uses transparency and real-life situations to be comforting and real. Quincie uses social media to raise awareness on mental health issues among an audience of 20-something peers by showing how she manages her own life experiences.

As someone who deals with anxiety, Quincie was attracted to Xavier because of its smaller, more intimate size, and the low student-to-teacher ratio. As a PR major, she has expanded her social media skills, and "learned how to represent companies and brands on social media to communicate their goals to the public,” shared Quincie.

She has also learned that everyone communicates differently. Social norms are helpful, but they don’t always provide the key to unlocking beneficial communication. Learning how to communicate on a deeper, more personal level than most people are used to is something she truly enjoys.

Quincie has also engaged in freelance projects to empower others to share their story on social media and develop effective communication for various audiences.

Quincie’s advice for students considering this field: “Even if you feel unsure, don’t let that stop you from chasing after your dreams.” She added, “We can often go into a major thinking we need to have things figured out, but that’s not true. Trust yourself and keep going.”
