Senior Spotlight: Haley Morgan

|

Haley Morgan is a people person.

As a Communication Studies and English double major, and a 2-year captain on Xavier’s Track and Field team, she’s learned the benefit of being able to communicate with many different types of personalities. Xavier’s Division 1 track program led her to Xavier, and the people she’s met on and off the team have made Xavier the perfect fit. Although she began her freshman year undecided on a major, Haley's love for writing led her to pursue a major in English. When she noticed some extra space in her schedule, she decided to add a Communication Studies major to get into the business side of writing.

“Between English and COMM, I’ve pretty much written in every single aspect or format that you could think of,” Haley says of her experience as a double major.

The wide variety of writing skills she has honed were helpful for her internship last summer with the Cleveland Browns. Though she worked in the Human Resources department, she was also able to shadow the Public Relations department and see the fascinating intersections between both. The role helped her grow in confidence, especially as she was being thrown into different roles daily.

After graduation, Haley is interested in returning to a communications role with the Cleveland Browns or similar organization.

For someone considering one or both of her majors, Haley’s advice would be to go with your gut and do something that you’re passionate about. She added, “As long as you know what you’re doing is going to make you happy, go for it!"
