Beyond The Classroom Series: Madison Asher

|

In continuation of the blog post series of "Beyond the Classroom," today we are showcasing Madison Asher! Madison is a junior Advertising and Art major concentrating in Graphic Design from Cleveland. Madison manages two blogs.

On "MA Design and Thoughts," Madison blogs about topics like body image, self love, her love for art, and projects she has in the works. The blog was initially created to promote her art but eventually Madison found motivation in writing and sharing more than her art. Now, she uses the blog as a form of self reflection and meditation.

As a junior, Madison has taken communication classes such as Principles of Strategic Communication, Strategic Communication Ethics Society, and Audience Survey and Research. In those classes Madison learned about various writing formats and techniques-skills she regularly uses in her blog. For example, Madison ensures that the voice is consistent throughout and keeps each post to about 500 words.

Madison wants to continue to inspire others and hopefully start conversations with people about issues that matter. She also emphasizes that having a personal blog is not about the number of shares but rather about the personal joy she gets out of writing.

When not updating her personal blog, Madison also writes for an organization Drive My Way. There, she creates content specifically for commercial driver's license (CDL) truckers. With this, Madison has learned a lot about Search Engine Optimization and Meta Tagging. Madison hopes, as she continues to take more communication classes, that she is able to eventually land a job at Leo Burnett in the Creative Department. You can keep up with Madison on her blogs madisonasherdesign.wordpress.com and www.drivemyway.com!
