Letter from the Dean
Welcome to the College of Osteopathic Medicine!
Our world needs physicians who lead with purpose, integrity, and compassion. Xavier University College of Osteopathic Medicine was founded to answer that call.
As the nation’s first Jesuit osteopathic medical school, we stand at a unique intersection of tradition and innovation. We draw upon centuries of Jesuit educational tradition while intentionally designing a contemporary medical program equipped to meet the evolving needs of patients, communities, and the profession itself.
From our facilities and technology to our curriculum and clinical partnerships, every decision has been guided by purpose. Our leadership team brings more than five decades of combined healthcare experience, and together we have built an educational foundation that emphasizes academic and clinical excellence, ethical leadership, and service to others.
At Xavier, we are deeply committed to caring for the whole person. This commitment shapes how we support our students, how we teach medicine, and how we prepare future physicians to serve with competence and compassion. It is reflected in our mission: to graduate impactful physician leaders who are relentless in their pursuit of compassion, excellence, and service to patients and communities.
With clinical rotations secured beyond projected need through our nationally recognized clinical partners in Cincinnati and a distinctive active learning curriculum, our students will be prepared not only to succeed in residency but to pursue careers aligned with their passions and sense of purpose. At Xavier, your medical education is about more than earning a degree—it is about becoming the person and the physician you are called to be.
We invite you to join the inaugural Class of 2031 and be part of a new chapter in medical education. Together, we will shape the future of osteopathic medicine and the communities we are privileged to serve.
Sincerely,

Steven J. Halm, D.O., FAAP, FACP, FACOI
