Peru Education Abroad Program
Join your peers and Xavier colleagues to learn about and explore Peru!
Xavier partners with the Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya (UARM). UARM was founded in 2003. It is a private institution of higher education with a focus on comprehensive and humanistic training. It belongs to the AUSJAL network (Association of Universities Entrusted to the Society of Jesus in Latin America) and the IAJU network (International Association of Jesuit Universities).
Coursework
Courses vary each semester, but many will meet one of Xavier's foreign language requirements, theological perspectives, philosophical perspectives, humanities elective, social science elective, creative perspectives, and ERS focus elective. Schedule a meeting with a study abroad advisor to learn more.

Accommodations
Students have the choice between home-stay or an apartment, all within walking distance to the UARM campus, and to several useful locations like grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, and a gym.
UARM does not provide dormitories but offers a list of suggested accommodations, including information about student residences, family houses, or apartments throughout the city for exchange students. Xavier faculty did a site visit to the apartments and took photos.
Financial Aid
Students will pay Xavier tuition, and they can use their usual financial aid to pay for tuition. In addition, the CIE office is offering scholarships of up to $2,000 for students applying to this program specifically as we get this partnership off the ground. There is an exception for students stacking scholarship awards. They can stack their merit aid and what they already have, but they can’t stack study abroad scholarships.
Summer in Peru
Join Xavier faculty to learn about community, culture and care in Peru! Examine how people work together to ensure the health and education of their community and the role culture plays in this. Students have homestay experiences with families in Lima, living with them and eating meals together. Students will visit archeological ruins throughout the Sacred Valley and Macchu Picchu.
This is an annual Xavier faculty-led study abroad program that has run for many years. It is usually 2 weeks long and last year 4 courses were offered, fulfilling humanities electives, DCR flag, and ERS focus-elective and Oral Communication flag.
Fall Student Teaching
This opportunity is for pre-service teacher education students completing final school based teaching requirements prior to being recommended for certification or licensure as a pre-primary, middle and/or secondary school teacher.
