Jody Googins
Director of the Department of Secondary Education
Associate Professor
Dr. Jody Googins is an associate professor of Secondary Education in the School of Education (SOE) at Xavier University. She also serves as the director of the Secondary Education program, as well as the co-director of the School of Education. Dr. Googins also serves as the co-Managing Editor of The Journal of Curriculum Theorizing. Dr. Googins received her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, with a focus in Leadership, Culture, and Curriculum, at Miami University, in Oxford, OH. She has a B.S. in Political Science from Xavier University, an M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Miami University, and an M.Ed. in Athletic Administration from Xavier University. Her research interests include teacher and curriculum stories, equity, and culturally responsive teaching. Dr. Googins is actively involved in accreditation and curriculum development for the SOE, and serves on the College accreditation committee. She additionally serves as a consultant with colleagues who are taking Introduction to Online Course Design courses. Previous to her time at Xavier University, Dr. Googins was a high school teacher in Southwest Ohio for 18 years, and she served as a visiting assistant professor at Miami University.
