Dr. James Sikkema

Teaching Professor, Philosophy Department

James Sikkema is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Xavier University.  A philosopher of the practice, James is a passionate educator with years of experience creating and delivering engaging and edifying courses that incorporate Socratic dialogue, problem and inquiry-based learning, and elements of design thinking.  James is also an accredited Level III youth philosophy instructor with The Philosophy Foundation, and has been engaging children, youth and the wider non-academic community in philosophical inquiry for over five years.  Although James’ research interests tend to focus on the work and readership of Spinoza, he is mainly a generalist with wide interests in the persons and problems of philosophy.
