Lina Jeong

Director of Chamber Orchestra

Lina Jeong serves as the Director of the Chamber Orchestra at Xavier University.
Jeong earned a master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting from University of Central Florida and a master’s degree in Music Education from Northwestern University where she pursued conducting and violin studies under the tutelage of Victory Yampolsky. She completed her undergraduate degrees in Music and French at Loyola University of Chicago where she studied violin with MingHuan Xu. Jeong furthered her studies in conducting and violin at summer festivals and masterclasses with Lina Gonzalez-Granados, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra musicians, Larry Livingston, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Gary Lewis, and Almita Vamos.
As a conductor, educator, and guest clinician, Jeong has worked with students of all ages across the United States. Currently, she serves on the American String Teachers Association National Wellness Committee. She has presented at state and national music conferences with topics ranging from community building for private studio teachers, wellness for string players, and graduate school applications. Jeong continues an active freelance performance career playing violin as a soloist, in chamber groups, and in orchestras.
