Manresa for Faculty/Staff

"Manresa" provides an overview of Xavier's mission and identity for new faculty and staff. During the program, veteran faculty and staff will share some aspect of our tradition followed by stimulating discussions with new colleagues. Manresa is offered in two format options: a 24-hour overnight experience and a series of luncheons for those who cannot make the overnight.As with all of our programs, faculty and staff of all faith traditions, and those with no affiliation, are invited to join us for this interesting program.Hear faculty and staff talk about their experience of Manresa

OPTION ONE: MANRESA OVERNIGHT

Manresa Overnight for New Faculty and Staff is September 13-14, 2024 at Transfiguration Spirituality Center in Glendale (about 25 minutes from campus). Participants arrive on Friday between 3:00-3:30 p.m. The program ends on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.Join us for this relaxed overnight experience as we hear from great speakers and share a meal and conversation in the beautiful retreat surroundings.

We will get a glimpse into the life of St. Ignatius Loyola and an overview of Jesuit education. We will also hear from "veteran" Xavier faculty and staff about how they incorporate Ignatian principles into their work. Friday evening includes a casual evening with a multi-course gourmet meal prepared and served by experienced faculty and staff to Xavier's new faculty and staff.This option is open to all full-time faculty, staff, and administrators with continuing employment at Xavier hired since August 15, 2023. Full-time new faculty often favor it because they may not be free to attend the luncheons of "Option Two" due to their teaching schedule.

OPTION TWO: MANRESA LUNCHEON SERIES (on campus)

For those unable to do the Manresa Overnight, the Manresa Luncheon Series has presentations similar to those offered at the overnight experience. In Fall 2024, this luncheon series is hosted on Thursdays: Aug. 29, Sept. 5, and Sept. 12 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the Arrupe Lounge in the Gallagher Student Center. Lunch is served at all three sessions.This option is open to all new full-time and part-time faculty, staff, and administrators with continuing employment at Xavier hired since August 15, 2023 and newly hired adjunct faculty hired for the 2024-2025 academic year.
