Making Things That Matter: Zine Creation and a Chat with Author Christen Randall

You're invited to an evening of creativity, community, and conversation!

Join us for Making Things That Matter: Zine Creation and a Chat with Author Christen Randall on Monday, April 20, from 5:00-7:00 PM in the library's 1st floor garden area to celebrate the Humanities Reading Room and the 10th anniversary of the library's Makerspace.

Local best-selling author Christen Randall will be on hand to talk about her creative process as an author and maker while sharing how poetry can reveal Things That Matter.

What is a zine? pronounced like "bean," a zine is a small-circulation print or online publication that is produced through noncommercial means and is meant to appeal to a niche audience. The term zine derives from fanzine, an amalgamation of the words fan and magazine. Their content usually consists of original or appropriated text and images. Learn more at the Makerspace LibGuide Zine page.

What to expect:

  • Free Zine-making supplies
  • Guided creative time inspired by poetry from the Humanities Reading Room
  • Casual conversation with Christen Randall about writing, creativity, and meaning
  • Free food from Aladdin's Mediterranean

Everyone is welcome-no art experience needed. Just bring your curiosity and a willingness to make something uniquely yours.
