Institutional Diversity and Inclusion

Our Mission Statement

The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion (OIDI) provides university-wide leadership to promote and support the development and success of diversity and inclusion initiatives that advance Xavier's Jesuit Catholic mission. The Office welcomes and seeks collaborations with faculty, staff and students across the campus to create a more diverse, inclusive and equitable community that enables individuals to reach their full potential as they learn, serve and achieve together. Through such partnerships, members of the campus community develop more cultural competence and confidence and are empowered to build organizational capacity for sustained change towards inclusive excellence.

Supported by the President's Diversity and Inclusion Action and Advisory Council (PDIAAC), the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion offers resources to all members of the campus community seeking to implement strategic plans that advance institutional diversity goals. In addition, the OIDI works closely with the Center for Diversity and Inclusion and houses a number of educational resources for exploring the research foundations of and best practices for diversity in higher education, which can be accessed by appointment.

 The OIDI staff include:

  • Janice B. Walker, PhD, Vice President for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion
  • Tracey DuEst, M.Ed., Associate Director of Diversity and Inclusion
  • Aleshia Zoogah, Administrative Assistant
