Dr. Graley Herren
Professor, English Department
Graley Herren is Professor of English at Xavier University. He earned his BA (1992) and MA (1994) degrees in English from the University of Tennessee, and his PhD (1998) in English from Florida State University. His teaching specialties are in Modern American Literature, Modern Irish Literature, Modern Drama, and Bob Dylan. In 2010 he was named as Xavier's Teacher of the Year, and in 2017 he received the Roger A. Fortin Award for Outstanding Teaching and Scholarship in the Humanities. He is the author of Samuel Beckett's Plays on Film and Television (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007), The Self-Reflexive Art of Don DeLillo (Bloomsbury Academic, 2019), Dreams and Dialogues in Dylan’s Time Out of Mind (Anthem Press, 2021), and Dylan in Cincinnati (University Press of Mississippi, 2026). He is co-editor of the journal The Dylan Review, and he writes a Substack on Dylan called Shadow Chasing.
