Haroon Moghul
Muslim Chaplain
Haroon Moghul is dedicated to teaching and empowering students and communities. He’s President of Queen City Diwan, a travel company that designs global leadership retreats. Haroon studied Islam, philosophy and history at Columbia University, NYU and in Egypt and Pakistan.
An award-winning columnist, his essays have been published by The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, Al Jazeera, and NPR's Fresh Air. He’s currently co-host of the Avenue M podcast, which explores faith and meaning in the Midwest and across the world.
In 2023 and 2024, EqualityX named Haroon one of the fifty most influential Muslims in the Americas. Haroon is the author of How to be a Muslim: An American Story and Two Billion Caliphs: A Vision of a Muslim Future. Previously, he served as Director of Strategy at the Concordia Forum, co-launched the Islamic Center at New York University, and served as a Fellow in Muslim Politics and Societies at Fordham Law School’s Center on National Security.
Haroon lives in Mason with his wife and family. His Substack, Sunday Schooled, shares his journey teaching middle school and high school students across Cincinnati. A one-time stand up comic in New York City (literally, just that one time), today Haroon enjoys chai, Dewey’s pizza, Graeter’s chip wheelies, and making and receiving dad jokes.
