About Assessment at Xavier

Academic Assessment at Xavier

Xavier’s Assessment plan is guided by our mission. We recognize and are committed to the assessment of student learning through academic and co-curricular engagement. We have developed and implemented an assessment approach that embodies our strong sense of our Jesuit mission. The guiding philosophy is that assessment properly rests with the faculty and staff who teach and work in the programs that deliver the academic and student experience. It is the academic administration’s responsibility to assure that assessment is done in a uniform way across the institution and is rigorous, robust, reflective, and used to properly inform ongoing program development.  Xavier’s faculty and staff have a strong passion and pride for promoting student success. Our process allows us to demonstrate student learning and points the way toward continuous improvement, allowing us to do what we care the most about at Xavier: educating the whole person.
