Step 3

APPLY FOR YOUR VA EDUCATION BENEFITS

Learning about Benefits: As a veteran, dependent or guard/reserve servicemember, you may be eligible for education benefits. Please refer to the following link to learn more about the various VA education benefit programs.

Applying for Benefits: Once you have determined what VA Education benefit you plan to use (if eligible), you can then apply to use these benefits through vets.gov.

Using VA Education Benefits at Xavier University: In order to formally submit your request for benefits for an upcoming term, please complete the forms below after you schedule courses for that term. Please forward any questions or concerns to the School Certifying Official, Amber Schutte.

Processing of Benefits: After you submit your request for benefits, you will receive a confirmation email that it has been received.

Schedule/Degree Changes: Should you make any major/minor or schedule changes following the submission of the form, please notify Amber Schutte via email.

VA Payment Plan: Students using the Post 9/11 GI bill are eligible for enrollment in the VA payment plan.

The purpose of the VA Payment Plan is to provide the VA time to process your benefit paperwork and remit payment to the University. This plan will prevent past due notices and late fees from the Bursar's Office. If you decide to forego the VA Payment Plan or submit your request of benefits after the due date, you will be subject to and responsible for late fees applied to your account while you wait for the VA to remit payment, unless you make prior arrangements to pay the balance.

VA educational benefits pay for a wide range of educational costs. If you incur other expenses that are not paid through the VA, you are responsible for paying them as they are incurred. Non qualifying expenses include, but are not limited to room, board, disciplinary fines, late fees, parking fees or fines, bookstore charges, class fees, technology fees, health and counseling service fees, student health insurance premiums, library fines, or other University charges. If such expenses go unpaid, you may be prevented from registering for the subsequent semester and late fees may be applied to your account.
