NotebookLM
IMPORTANT: Please read our GenAI Best Practices page before using this generative AI tool with course work.
NotebookLM is a Google-powered AI research and synthesis tool that helps users interact with their own documents. Unlike general AI tools, NotebookLM generates responses grounded in sources you upload, such as PDFs, Google Docs, Word Docs, slides, and notes. This makes it especially useful in academic environments where accuracy, citation, and alignment with course materials are essential.
At Xavier, NotebookLM can support both teaching and learning by helping faculty and students engage more deeply with course content. Faculty can use it to generate summaries, discussion prompts, or lecture insights from readings, while students can use it to create study guides, clarify concepts, and synthesize multiple sources. It aligns well with evidence-based instructional practices such as scaffolding, chunking, and reducing cognitive load by organizing complex information into manageable outputs.
