Dr. Saeed Azad

Assistant Professor

Dr. Saeed Azad earned his B.S. degree from Azad University of Mashhad, Iran, in 2010, his M.S. from Alfred University in 2016, and his Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 2020, all in Mechanical Engineering. After receiving his Ph.D., he joined the Systems Engineering Department at Colorado State University as a Postdoctoral Fellow. He subsequently served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Ohio Northern University before joining Xavier University.
Dr. Azad’s research focuses on combined design and control optimization, or control co-design. By integrating optimization, uncertainty quantification, and systems thinking into the design of dynamic engineering systems, his research develops robust, reliable, and high-performing solutions that are not attainable through traditional approaches. He has used these techniques in a range of applications, including hybrid energy systems, wave energy converter farms, and electric vehicle powertrains.
