Xavier to accept donations of historical memorabilia and artifacts during Alumni Weekend

Oct 4, 2023

Xavier University Archives & Special Collections will accept donations of Xavier-related historical memorabilia and artifacts during an Alumni Weekend collection from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10 in the Alumni Center.

Xavier will consider donations of historical records and artifacts that align with at least one of the following four categories: campus life, student experiences, alumni involvement and academic history.

“Alumni have donated many of the unique materials preserved within University Archives,” University Archivist & Special Collections Librarian Anne Ryckbost said. “These items are invaluable because they allow us to learn about Xavier through the eyes of its students. By developing a broad and rich collection, we can share the extraordinary history of Xavier.”

University Archives has accepted these artifacts from alumni donors:

  • Letters
  • Photographs
  • Scrapbooks
  • Posters
  • Journals
  • Class materials

University Archives does not accept the following:

  • Yearbooks
  • Large items such as trophies
  • Photocopies or other copies of original materials
  • Moldy or damaged items

For additional donation guidelines and information about the donation process, visit the University Archives and Special Collection at Xavier donation website.

University Archives serves as the chief resource for historical materials about Xavier. University Archives collects, describes, preserves and makes accessible records that document the development of Xavier University since its founding in 1831.
