Musketeers pitch ideas to solve college health care issues in Xavier-TriHealth Pitch Competition
Apr 24, 2023
Three Musketeers won cash prizes for their potential solutions to health care issues commonly faced by college students.
Participants were challenged to present a three-minute pitch on how to solve health care problems that college students often face, increase success rates for TriHealth to recruit and/or retain college graduates for key positions, or solve any other health care problem the students deemed important.
Exercise Science major Reid Peterson took first place in the Xavier/TriHealth Pitch Competition, held on April 13 at Xavier's Center for Innovation. Peterson pitched an idea for a peer-to-peer counseling program, earning him a $1,500 prize.
Biological Foundations for Business major Tyler Forbes won the $1,000 second-place prize for his pitch, "Project XR^2," a plan to recruit and retain Xavier students at TriHealth, while the team of Health Services Administration major Ciara Lambert and Information Systems major Laura Cox finished third and earned $500 for their own recruitment strategy.
After pitching their ideas, the competitors then addressed questions from the event's panel of judges comprising these senior-level TriHealth employees:
- Jeanette Altenau, Director of Community Relations and Government Affairs
- The Rev. Frank Nation, Vice President, Mission and Culture
- Marla Silliman, Senior Vice President, Regional Operations
- Tashawna Thomas-Otabil, Chief Diversity Officer and Vice President, Managed Care
- Patrick Wright, Vice President, Population Health
