Michael Ebie is a PhD Candidate in Music Theory at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He holds a BM in Brass Performance from the University of Akron, and both a MM in Tuba Performance and a MM in Music Theory from Michigan State University. As an active performer and theorist, his research interests focus on the intersections between Performance and Analysis, with an emphasis on implementing these overlaps in the undergraduate-level Music Theory curriculum. He has performed with ensembles such as the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, the Mason Symphony Orchestra, the Springboro Wind Symphony, the Cincinnati Brass Band, and others. He has presented research on performance and analysis studies, film music, transformational theory, musical theater, and text-music relationships.
