Montessori staff members arrange for students to participate in two semesters of practicum in an accredited American Montessori School. Application must be made for a practicum. The following documents must be on file in the office of Montessori education before beginning your practicum:

  • Practicum application including an updated resume, personal essay and philosophy paper
  • Three recommendation letters regarding student/internship adequacy
  • Signed Moral Character form and current FBI and State of Residence Agency background checks
  • Signed statement that you have read the practicum handbook and additional signatures acknowledging responsibilities, testing and fee requirements
  • Other forms as required

The program is accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education and affiliated with the American Montessori Society. When you complete your practicum and course work you must apply for state license through Xavier's department of education.
