Master of Education in Montessori Education

Practicum Application

Montessori staff members arrange for students to participate in a practicum in an accredited American Montessori School. Application must be made for a practicum. The following documents must be on file in the office of Montessori education before beginning your practicum:

  • Three recommendation forms
  • Practicum application
  • Signed statement that you have read the practicum handbook
  • Moral character form
  • Certification fee of approximately $150 (amount subject to change.)

The program is accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education and affiliated with the American Montessori Society. When you complete your practicum and course work you must apply for state license through Xavier's department of education.

Post Practicum

The student who elects to complete a master's in education and not participate in the practicum may apply for the practicum after the completion of the Master of Education degree. Those who wish to add American Montessori Elementary II Certification must meet with the director of the Montessori program.
