David Hamilton
Associate Director, Communications and Public Relations, Marketing and Communications
As Associate Director of Communications and Public Relations, David focuses on ensuring the external world sees how special Xavier truly is. His roles include writing stories for Xavier’s official channels, serving as a university spokesperson and media contact, and collaborating with leaders on strategic communications.
Before joining Xavier in 2021, David spent nearly three years working for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. As a member of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, David’s work included crafting Kentucky Governor’s Office communications centered on the state’s business development efforts.
David began his career as a journalist, working for community-based newspapers in Natchez, Mississippi, and then Frankfort, Kentucky. He covered a range of news beats, including local government, business and crime.
A native of Newburgh, Indiana (located in the “toe” of the boot-shaped state), David holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a master’s degree from Louisiana State University. He currently lives in Independence, Kentucky, with his wife, Andrea.
When he’s not working to promote Xavier, David loves to shoot hoops, play guitar, cook and listen to podcasts.
