Application Process

The Inside-Out Prison Exchange course (CJUS 335 (men's prisons) and CJUS 336 (women's prison)) will count as an elective in criminal justice and many other majors. Inside-Out also fulfills the diversity requirement at XU. If you are not a criminal justice major, please check with your departmental advisor to determine whether this course counts as an elective. Students are permitted to take both CJUS 335 (men's prison) and CJUS 336 (women's prison) as a student. NOTE: Xavier students of any gender identity can take either course.

To be considered for the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program:

  • Complete and submit the application. The applications are currently available.
  • Applicants who get through the first round of screening will be required to attend a 15-minute screening interview.

Applications must be submitted by March 22, 2024 at 5:00 pm EST for consideration for the Fall 2024 course at Dayton Correctional (women's facility) Note: Submitting an application does not guarantee you will be selected for the course.

Late applications will not be considered.

CJUS 335 will not be offered in Fall 2024.
