My name is Kelly Bunting and I am a graduate of the HAB Class of 2013.

Born and raised in Mobile, AL, Xavier was not an inevitable choice for me. To make the most of my time in school, I sought a Jesuit education experience with the ability to study subjects from multiple disciplines, and I was willing to travel to make that happen. Xavier and the HAB program provided the perfect atmosphere and curriculum to marry an established appreciation of Latin to my goal of attending dental school.

While in the program, I minored in Philosophy and Natural Science. The rigorous course schedule and demanding classes required a level of academic excellence and preparation that I am still benefitting from today. You learn so much more than Greek and Latin in your four years. More importantly, you learn the ability to think and analyze for yourself, how to research, how to write, and to approach life questioning. Though the initial goal was dental school, the HAB program prepared me for any career path. I am currently in my second year at Simmons College in Boston, MA for their Library and Information Science and History dual Master's degree program with the goal of working with Special Collections in a cultural heritage institution.

Beyond the academic and career benefits the HAB program provides, an equally important quality of the program is the relationships you establish along the way. With great professors that become friends and incredible classmates that become family, HAB becomes a home away from home that you'll carry with you for the rest of your life.
