John Farkas

My name is John-Michael Farkas and I graduated from the HAB program in 2014. I am currently working at the Reynolds and Reynolds Company in Dayton, Ohio as a Software Implementation Specialist. I travel each week to a new city/state working with all of the major car companies and their respective dealerships, more specifically the parts and service departments, in order to install our systems and train our clients on the software solutions offered by Reynolds.

Outside of work, I use my free time to study music theory and production and will hopefully start my own "studio," as well as architecture and drafting, which is something else I have thought about pursuing in the future. I also recently started tutoring a Chinese family, who recently moved to Dayton and know very little English, so that they may speak English more fluently (and also practice up on my Mandarin).

Along with the HAB program, I minored in International Studies, International Business and Philosophy, and outside of academics, helped to run the Swim Club and Eta Sigma Phi. While there was an immense amount of work involved, the HAB program itself was the thing that pushed me the hardest and kept me most sane. I developed deep relationships with my professors and classmates, relationships that will last forever, no matter the distance or time between us. The program gave me the skills to deal with stress, balance the various aspects of life, understand and communicate more fully with others, and really figure out what is most important to me. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
