Alex Spindler

My name is Alex Spindler, and I am a 2015 HAB and Spanish double graduate of Xavier University. My thesis project was entitled: "The Art of the Stage Machinist: A Dramatic Reconstruction of Aeschylus' Linear Tragedy, Prometheus Bound?," which focused on emphasizing stagecraft and the physical aspects of tragedy's production as opposed to just emphasizing textual constraints. Following graduation, I enrolled in the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, IN. I am pursuing my Juris Doctorate with an expected graduation in May of 2018. My first year of study will be comprised of classes in Contract Formation and Breach, Personal Injury Law, Criminal Law and Civil Procedure with emphasis on Legal Research and Writing. I plan on working with various Pro Bono Organizations at the law school including the Protective Order Project (POP) which provides legal assistance to women who are victims of domestic abuse as well as the LGBT Project which assists with Transgender rights and helping to redefine the notion of family in Indiana. The HAB program has provided for me a skill set unlike any other. I have the confidence and endurance to read dense legal texts. I come equipped with a classical knowledge that allows me to not only understand legal terms written using "antiquated language" but also to appreciate the scholarship behind the initial formation of the American Common Law System. In my free time, I decided to take up running to offset my sedentary lifestyle as a graduate student. Also, as a self-described "foodie," I love trying new food recipes to further expand my palette.
