Certificate in Biomedical Sciences

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Pre-Medical

This certificate program is designed for students who are not seeking a degree already have a 4-year degree, but who want to prepare for admission to medical school a postgraduate school in the health professions, including medical school, PA school, dental school, optometry school, veterinary school and more. Medical schools These programs generally expect their applicants to have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree along with the four years of science courses required for this certificate. Some programs may have additional requirements, particularly in the area of social sciences; consult the pre-professional health adviser. 

The required courses are:

  • General Biology I and II (BIOL 160-163): 10 credit hours
  • General Chemistry I and II (CHEM 160-163): 8 credit hours
  • Organic Chemistry I and II (CHEM 240-243): 8 credit hours
  • Biochemistry (BIOL 440 or CHEM 440): 3 credit hours

And at least 8 hours from the below list (consult with pre-professional health adviser about your specific goal):
