Sarah Naas

Associate Director, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services

Sarah Naas was named Associate Director for Student-Athlete Academic Support Services in January 2021. In her role, she serves as the primary academic advisor for the men’s and women’s basketball programs, oversees academic progress planning, and supports NCAA eligibility certification processes.

Naas came to Xavier after serving as Assistant Director for Athletic Academic Services at Louisiana Tech University from 2018–20. At Louisiana Tech, she advised the football program and oversaw the department’s academic support operations, supervising graduate assistants, interns, student workers, and the tutoring staff. During her time with the Bulldogs, she played a significant role in developing individualized academic support plans and strengthening holistic student-athlete development structures.

Prior to her work at Louisiana Tech, Naas spent four years in the Student-Athlete Success Center at Western Kentucky University (2014–18). She began as an intern and tutoring coordinator (2014–16), later serving as a graduate assistant in academic services (2016–17). In 2017, she was promoted to Athletic Academic Coordinator and worked with several sport programs, including women’s basketball, women’s tennis, softball, and football. Her portfolio included academic advising, progress monitoring, APR/GSR tracking support, and tutor program oversight.

A native of Barlow, Ky., Naas earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Sport Management and Public Relations from Western Kentucky University in 2016 before completing her master’s degree in Recreation and Sport Administration in 2018. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, with research focused on the evolving relationship between athletic and academic divisions within higher education.
