Placement Test Information

Take your Language Placement Assessment

Second language is part of the core curriculum at Xavier University. There are many advantages of language study, including enhancing your communication skills, and developing intercultural competence, leadership potential and the ability to collaborate with a variety of people. These skills will enhance your future career options!

Xavier utilizes a placement test to gain an idea of your current level, based on your previous studies of a language. For this placement test, keep in mind the following:

  • Complete the placement test in one sitting. You cannot start the exam and complete it later.
  • The placement test is only administered one time. You may not take it again.
  • Take the test in the language that you studied in high school (French, German, Italian, Latin or Spanish), even if you think you might like to study a different language at Xavier University.
  • If you have taken more than one language in high school, take the placement test for the language you plan to study at Xavier.
  • Please note that it can take up to 1 business day for your language test to be marked completed.

Incoming students should access the language placement test through Road to Xavier. Current students who need to test should contact Diane Ceo-DiFrancesco.

Take your Mathematics Placement Assessment
