Concert Choir

The Xavier University Concert Choir is an auditioned ensemble committed to choral excellence and the transformative power of music. Under the direction of Dr. Matthew Lee, the choir brings together music majors and non-music majors in a shared commitment to artistic achievement and musical exploration.
The ensemble performs a diverse and ambitious repertoire spanning five centuries, from Renaissance masterworks to contemporary compositions by living composers. This wide-ranging programming reflects the choir's versatility and commitment to both honoring choral traditions and championing new voices in the art form.
A cornerstone of the Concert Choir's identity is its collaborative spirit. The ensemble regularly partners with orchestras, instrumentalists, and distinguished guest conductors to bring major choral-orchestral works to life. Recent notable collaborations include performances of Mahler's Symphony No. 2 with the May Festival Chorus and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé with renowned Versailles organist Jean-Baptiste Robin at the Cincinnati Museum Center and Mozart’s Requiem in D Minor with Young Professionals Choral Collective. These partnerships showcase the choir's ability to perform at a high professional level while creating meaningful musical experiences for both performers and audiences.
Deeply connected to the Cincinnati community, the Xavier University Concert Choir performs regularly at events throughout the region, sharing the joy and artistry of choral music with diverse audiences. Through its dynamic performances, collaborative projects, and community engagement, the Concert Choir continues to uphold Xavier University's commitment to excellence in the arts and service to others.
The ensemble welcomes dedicated singers from across the university who seek to grow as musicians and contribute to a vibrant choral community that values both technical excellence and expressive artistry.
