Mike Needler

I'm Mike Needler, and since graduating HAB from Xavier, I went through a few professions, e.g. salesman, event manager, auctioneer block clerk. Finally, I decided to commit to guitar, which has always been my greatest passion, and started teaching guitar and bass lessons, as an independent instructor. This allowed me the economic freedom to practice all day and improve my musicianship. Now I am a professional guitarist working for Carnival Cruise Lines, currently based out of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and I could not be happier. I just received confirmation that I have acquired my 2nd contract on the Carnival Dream, based out of New Orleans, and will be sailing all throughout the Caribbean.

I loved the HAB program, and I've never regretted my choice of study. HAB helped me to discover my ability to overcome any challenge I face, and the confidence to respond to the world rather than react to it. My favorite aspect about the program was the opportunity to read some of the greatest works of philosophy in the author's own words, with an understanding of the culture that surrounded them. In addition, the precise attention to detail required to ensure that papers were returned to me with more white than red has transferred over to my musical training, helping to elevate my creativity to a level worthy of a consistent job doing what I love. Plus, the small class size and extracurricular activities foster a strong sense of community and brotherhood. I would not be where I am today had I not joined the HAB program.
