It's been a while

Again this year, I find myself describing Cincinnati to faculty candidates who -- like me back in 2003 -- have never before visited the Queen City.

Until this week, though, it never occurred to me to characterize our fair city by its pride in the local professional football team. Let alone one whose citizens galavant around in  jerseys boasting its rookie kicker's number.

Turns out, I just haven't been here long enough.

It's been a while since the Bengals were  one win away from the big game.

How long? You'll have to ask one of our colleagues (pictured above) who was here in those days. Back when Stan Hedeen (Emeritus Professor of Biology) was the dean and Fr. Kennealy the associate dean.

As for me, back then I was a mulletted high-school senior 900 miles away, clueless about who dey were.
