Andrea B. Weickgenannt, DBA

Assistant Professor, Accountancy

Andrea Weickgenannt is an assistant professor in the Accountancy Department at Xavier University.  She is a CPA and has worked in various accounting disciplines.  Before academia, she was in public accounting for nearly 15 years, mostly working in the audit division and entrepreneurial services group of Ernst & Young LLP in the Cincinnati and Baltimore offices.  At Xavier, she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in financial accounting and auditing, and is a faculty advisor for the accounting student organizations. Her professional affiliations include the American Accounting Association, American Institute of CPAs, Ohio Society of CPAs, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Institute of Management Accountants.

Prof. Weickgenannt earned a DBA in accounting from Kennesaw State University, and holds a MBA from the University of Maryland and BBA from the University of Cincinnati. Previously she taught at Northern Kentucky University, the University of Maryland, and various corporate continuing education programs. Her teaching and research interests are in the areas of organizational governance, auditing and ethics, financial accounting, and accounting information systems.  Her work has been published in such academic journals as Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Issues in Accounting Education, Advances in Accounting Education, and the Journal of Accounting Case Research.  She is also the co-author of a textbook, Accounting Information Systems: Controls and Processes, published by John Wiley & Sons.

A resident of Villa Hills, Kentucky, Prof. Weickgenannt and her husband have two adult sons. She serves many volunteer roles for area organizations including Open Door Ministry, Dress for Success Cincinnati, and Accounting for Kids.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, movies, Pilates, and Sudoku.
