Summer Program

WHAT: The Summer Program in Rome is a five-week long international experience that combines six credits of academic work with cultural excursions both in Rome and beyond. The first group of nine students studied in Rome in the summer of 1997. Typically, the summer group averages around 36 students.

There is also a three-week long, three credit hour option for students taking ART113. Students interested in this option should contact Prof. Suzanne Chouteau (chouteau@xavier.edu).

WHEN: May 20 - June 21, 2024

WHERE: Students are housed at Loyola's campus in a quiet residential area of Rome. The current facility offers all of the amenities of an American campus abroad. Residential as well as classroom space are housed at the facility, as are library and wifi internet facilities, a business office, food and laundry service, ATM, and around the clock security. A Residence Life Assistant is on duty 24 hours a day. The neighborhood is full of cafes, shops, restaurants and pizzerias in easy walking distance. Visit their website at: https://www.luc.edu/rome

COST (does not include air fare): $6,350 for five weeks, $3,750 for three weeks

EXCURSIONS INCLUDED IN COST: There are several cultural excursions open to all of the students in the program. There is no additional fee for these trips, the cost of these excursions is included in the cost of the program itself. The three-day weekend excursion to Florence and Siena includes two nights in Florence, a group visit to Uffizi Gallery and a banquet in a typical Florentine restaurant. There is also a day trip excursion to Assisi as well.

ADDITIONAL PERKS INCLUDED IN COST: There is a Welcome Banquet at a local restaurant, the group dinner in Florence, a monthly transit system pass for the city of Rome that allows unlimited access to all buses, subways and trolleys in the city, and any and all museum and gallery admissions as required for the specific classes in which the student is enrolled.
