Kelly Austin

Senior Teaching Professor, English Department

Kelly Austin is a Senior Teaching Professor. Kelly has been teaching at Xavier since 1998. Kelly teaches core courses, primarily in writing and literature. She has taught First-Year Seminar, English Composition, Rhetoric, Writing about Texts, Studies in Fiction, Literature & the Moral Imagination, Studies in Women’s Literature, and Teaching & Research in Writing.

 

Kelly received her BA and MA in English from Brigham Young University. For her MA, her emphasis was composition theory, culminating in a master’s thesis about the impact of gender on student dynamics in the composition classroom. Kelly has served as the Writing Program Director at Xavier. She has also continued her study of pedagogy as the CTE Faculty Associate at Xavier.
