In 2018, the Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit will continue to explore new and promising areas of environmental sustainability, while also taking a deeper look at the issue of resilience. We will explore how other regions across the nation are adapting to climate change and other environmental challenges and those in the process of creating resilient cities. To underscore this point, the keynote speaker this year is Katharine Hayhoe. Hayhoe is a prominent climate scientist experienced in untangling the complex science and tackling many long-held misconceptions about global warming. Director of the Climate Science Center at Texas Tech University, Hayhoe’s current focus is on modeling regional to local impacts of climate change, and how we can fix this together using many of the solutions already in our backyards.
