Description:

Vandana Shiva will be the speaker for Earth Day, 7-9pm, April 22nd, James and Caroline Duff Banquet Center at Cintas Center, Xavier.  The event will be free and open to the public, reservations not necessary.

Dr. Shiva was named one of the top Seven most Powerful Women on the Globe by Forbes magazine in 2010.  Trained as a physicist, she founded Navdanya, a national movement to protect the diversity and integrity of living resources, especially native see, the promotion of organic farming and fair trade.

Dr. Shiva combines the sharp intellectual enquiry with courageous activism.  Among her many awards is the Alternative Nobel Prize (Right Livelihood Award, 1993).

This event is part of the Land Justice Series, Sustainability at Xavier.
