Senate Elections: March 19-20, 2014

Student Senators are elected by popular vote from among the student body. Sixteen senators are elected each spring as uprising upperclassmen. 

Senate Election Important Dates:

  • March 13, 2014 at 12:00pm (noon): Candidate Questionnaire, Candidate Photo, and Nominating Petition Submission Deadline
  • March 16, 2014: Public Campaign Period Begins
  • March 16, 2014, 3:00-6:00pm: Residence Hall Canvassing
  • March 19, 2014 at 8:00am until March 20, 2014 at 4:00pm

Student Government Association

The Student Government Association exists to continuously improve the University and develop all undergraduate students, part- time and full-time, traditional andnontraditional alike. SGA provides a forum for civic training and student participation in University governance and strives to preserve the rights and freedoms of all  students.

Executives

The Executives are the elected President and Vice Presidents who strive to improve student life through their annual projects and initiatives. They act as the official student representation to administration, faculty, staff, Board of Trustees, alumni and the larger community. Go to Executives page...

Student Senators

Student Senators, along with the Executives makeup the Student Government Association. Senators are elected by popular vote from among the student body. Sixteen upper-class senators are elected each spring and four first-year senators are elected each fall from the incoming class.

Appointed Positions

Outside of three main branches of the Student Government Association, there are many other ways in which students can get involved with SGA. The Executives are responsible for appointing students each spring who hold specific offices or serve on specific committees on campus. Board of Elections, Student Rights Representative, Student Conduct Liaison, and 14 different University Committees.
