CPT Eshom received his commission through the Reserve Officers Training Corps at Texas A&M University in 2012, where he was commissioned as an Armor Officer and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Resources and Development. CPT Eshom's military education includes the Armor Basic Officer’s Leadership Course, U.S. Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School, Cavalry Leaders Course, Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, and the Master Educators Course.

As a Lieutenant, he served as a Tank Platoon Leader with Delta Company, 1st Battalion 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division deploying to Afghanistan in 2013 – 2014. He was then selected as BN Scout Platoon leader to deploy to the Republic of Korea 2015-2016.

From 2017-2018, CPT Eshom was selected to represent the Armor Branch at the United States Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School at Quantico Marine Corps Base, Virginia. Following the Expeditionary Warfare School, CPT Eshom reported to Fort Bragg and was assigned as Assistant Operations Officer. He assumed command of Apache Troop on 13 November 2019.

During his tenure as the Apache Troop Commander, CPT Eshom successfully led the Troop through a no-notice assumption of the Immediate Response Force  (IRF) responsibilities in January of 2020. He then oversaw the Troop through its deployment to Syria from June 2020 to February 2021 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), where the unit achieved overwhelming strategic impacts. Due to its intrepid ability under CPT Eshom’s guidance, the Troop received the Armor and Cavalry Leadership Award, marking them as the Top Cavalry Troop within the 82nd Airborne Division.

CPT Eshom's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with OLC; Army Achievement Medal with OLC; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star; Operation Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal with 2 campaign stars; Global War on Terrorism Medal; the Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 2; Army Service Ribbon; Korean Defense Service Medal; ISAF NATO Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation; German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, Senior Parachutists Badge, and the Order of Saint George Black and Bronze Medallions. CPT Eshom is married to the former Laura Jim Hazlett of Midland, Texas. They have one child, Emersyn (3).
