Shannon Hughes

Associate Director, Dorothy Day Center for Faith and Justice

(She, Her, Hers)

As the Associate Director in the Dorothy Day Center for Faith and Justice, Shannon works with students, faculty, and staff to deepen our understanding of and commitment to the pursuit of justice in our campus, local, and global communities.

Prior to her work at Xavier, Shannon managed the NETWORK Education Program in Washington, DC (the partner of NETWORK, a National Catholic Social Justice Lobby). At NETWORK, Shannon presented to faith and student groups, at national conferences and in professional development settings to provide resources, foster conversations, and raise awareness and understanding around the central justice issues at stake in current federal policies. Shannon worked in Resident Services for Over-the-Rhine Community Housing, a non-profit affordable housing provider in Cincinnati. Through Jesuit Volunteers International, Shannon spent two years teaching English, physics and world religions at Assumption High School, in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Urban Sustainability and Resilience from Xavier University in her hometown of Cincinnati.
