Xavier @ Huck Finn XVII
Xavier's B.L.O.B. Ultimate Frisbee team traveled to St. Louis, Missouri to be a part of the Huck Finn XVII tournament. After multiple rain delays, game shortenings, and field relocation, pool play on Saturday resulted in a 3-2 record for B.L.O.B. They comfortably defeated Minnesota-B in their first game of the day by a score of 9-3. After a hard-fought and very defensive game, Washington University St. Louis triumped over Xavier by a score of 7-5 after putting in a late score than fizzled B.L.O.B.'s final push for a late game comeback. The third game resulted in a second straight loss for Xavier, this time to number one overall seed Luther College 11-3. B.L.O.B. finished the day on a strong note with back-to-back wins against Missouri State (10-7) and a convincing win againt then-top 10 Division 3 opponent St. John's from Minnesota (5-0). Xavier finished third in their pool, good enough for them to advance to the championship bracket on Sunday. Sunday's games resulted in a 15-2 loss to University of Missouri in cold, rainy, and muddy conditions. Xavier's B.L.O.B. finished 10th overall at the tournament that fielded 24 teams, a very solid finish as they look to improve against upcoming competition. The results from this tournament also boosted Xavier to being ranked as the #6 DIII team in the country as of March 13th, 2013.
