Courses Abroad and Credit Policies
STUDY ABROAD APPROVAL FORM
The Study Abroad Approval (STAB) form is the official form to receive credit from your study abroad experience. All students who study abroad must complete the STAB form.
Xavier Sponsored Semester Program
Students who study abroad on a Xavier-sponsored program must complete this form. The form will put you in a placeholder course while you are abroad. All courses you take abroad must be listed on this form to receive credit. After your experience, this form tells the Registrar's office how your courses apply to your degree requirements.
Instructions to Complete the STAB
Xavier Direct Exchange Programs
Students who study abroad on a direct exchange program must complete this form. The form will put you in a placeholder course while you are abroad. All courses you take abroad must be listed on this form to receive credit. After your experience, this form tells the Registrar's office how your courses apply to your degree requirements.
Instructions to Complete the STAB
Xavier Faculty-led Programs
Students who study on faculty-led programs must complete this form to register for their courses. You cannot register for a study abroad course through Self-Service. Courses taught on faculty-led programs are Xavier courses. You will receive a grade for your courses, not transfer credit.
Instructions to Complete the STAB
Xavier Non-Xavier Sponsored Programs
Students who study abroad on a non-Xaier sponsored program (e.g. petitioned semester option or summer program that is not a faculty-led program) must complete this form to receive credit. The form will put you in a placeholder course while you are abroad. All courses you take abroad must be listed on this form to receive credit. After this experience, this form tells the Registrar's office how your courses apply to your degree requirements.

ONLINE EQUIVALENCY LISTINGS
Use TES (Transfer Evaluation System) to search for how courses you have taken or are interested in taking at another institution will be evaluated and counted here at Xavier University.
Instructions on How to Use TES
Please note:
The TES database should be used as a guideline. Equivalencies are subject to change, are not guaranteed, and may count differently depending on a student’s degree program. Not every study abroad program and institution is listed and many courses may not appear in the database. This does not mean that the courses will not transfer; only that they have not previously been presented for evaluation. A Xavier equivalency shown with the prefix ‘UNDE’ indicates we do not have an equivalent course at Xavier, but the credit is transferable as general elective credit.
CREDIT EVALUATION (ALL PROGRAMS EXCEPT XAVIER FACULTY-LED PROGRAMS)
Official transcripts are required in order for the transfer credit evaluation to be completed.
- Credit will be accepted for all college-level academic courses in which a grade of 'C' or better has been earned at institutions of higher education.
- Abroad institutions that use a different evaluation system than the US will be converted to the US equivalent through WES.
- Credits from accepted courses from other institutions are transferred, but the grades do not transfer.
