Dr. Patrick Filanowski, PhD

Dr. Filanowski has a diverse teaching portfolio encompassing various topics in exercise science, including kinesiology, exercise physiology, advanced research methods, strength and conditioning, exercise program design, health fitness assessment, adapted physical activity, and has guided students' experiential learning as an instructor for the exercise science practicum. He is recognized as a "Province Ignatian Educator of Distinction" based on his commitment and competence in animating the Jesuit tradition of academic excellence.

His research is focused on shared physical activity participation among children and their parents. Dr. Filanowski's work investigates the enjoyment, feasibility, and intensity levels of physical activity in children and parents, identifying the potential disparities in engagement and behaviors within these contexts. He has utilized a variety of methodological approaches to precisely measure physical activity levels in children. Dr. Filanowski is dedicated to advancing our understanding of the health benefits of shared physical activity experiences within parent-child relationships.
