Dr. Joshua Oltmanns

Assistant Professor

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and director of the Personality, Mental Health, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Lab at the Xavier School of Psychology. Our research focuses on (1) using behavioral markers (such as speech, language, and facial expressions) to improve personality and mental health assessment, (2) examining change in personality and mental health across time, including through therapy, and (3) differences between how people view their own personality and mental health and how they are perceived by others.

I received my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Kentucky, M.S. in general experimental psychology from Villanova University, and B.A. in music business from Indiana University. I completed my clinical internship at the University of Kentucky Internship Consortium and my postdoctoral training at Stony Brook University Medicine.
