The Gallagher Student Center is nine years old and has been operating a 24/7 schedule for the last few years. As a result, the building is in need of restoration.

A three year project began in the fall of 2010 to improve electrical distribution, replace carpeting, install new wall coverings, replace exterior doors and replace furniture. In addition, space reconfigurations were necessary in 2010 and 2011 to accommodate the creation of the Hoff Academic Quad and other changes throughout campus. Those reconfigurations affected multiple departments throughout the campus. A partial list of the departments affected include: International Student Services (ISS), Project Search, Career Services Center, Faith and Justice, Publications - Xavier Newswire, and the Office of Student Involvement. A commuter lounge and a club resource space will also be created.
