Over the past two years, Xavier ROTC has expanded its recognition of alumni in three ways: with the establishment and support of the ROTC Alumni Advisory Board, the establishment of the Xavier ROTC Hall of Fame, and the return of alumni as guest speakers and hosts for significant events.
The Advisory Board includes:
President CPT Mason Rick '09
LTC Bob Polewski '49
CPT Skip Fellinger '56
COL Bob Wetterstroem '66
LTC Paul Fellinger '68
LTC Kevin England '70
CPT Tony Fellinger '72
COL Steve Koenig '84
COL Todd Mayer '85
LTC Cindy Koenig '86
MAJ Rachel Gabbard '06
“This Board was established to provide sound counsel, advice and guidance with a nod to history for our Professor of Military Science and our Senior Military Science Instructor,” says LTC Nathan Lewis, department chair and professor of military science.
The Xavier Army ROTC program is actually made up of five schools (Xavier, Miami, Thomas Moore, Mount Saint Joseph and NKU). From the 2017 class, Xavier had seven students graduate in a separate commissioning ceremony, attended in May by Fr. Graham, Fr. Bischoff and Br. Burns.
The seven Xavier students who commissioned were: William Bloom, Edward Cepe, Connor Hamilton, Kerry Hoar, Corey Mulvey, Kristen Osborne and Zachary Warzyniak.
“The last four years of being in the All For One Battalion is something I will never forget and there's nothing that comes close to it,” says Edward Cepe, who graduated with a degree in history. “It has not only taught me how to be an officer but a caring and listening leader who lives through the Army and Jesuit values. The other cadets I've met in my time here are not just lifelong friends, they are my fellow brothers and sisters. The instructors are mentors I can always count on and role models I want to emulate.”
