Rick Bell has been a Xavier fan his entire life.
And while he didn’t attend the University, no less than 10 of his family members have, which means he’s been fond of the school for years.
“Xavier University has always been a part of my life,” said the 40-year-old Bell. “My father and sister are graduates, as are countless relatives and friends. I’ve been going to Xavier basketball games since the Gardens, and it has been a lifelong bonding experience between my father and I. Xavier basketball is a tradition that I’m now proudly passing on to my sons.”
So, when it came time to do something more for X, Bell answered the call.
Xavier’s annual 48-hour March Gladness event will be held on Feb. 28-March 1, and to coincide, Bell—owner of the Cincinnati Watch Company—is helping to host a “Watch Party” before the men’s basketball game versus DePaul on March 3 at the Yard House.
March Gladness is Xavier’s annual social media campaign that focuses on recruiting donors to contribute to their favorite University programs and organizations.
The Cincinnati Watch Company, which specializes in customized watches, will be donating a Xavier mechanical watch to be given away during the event. All gifts made during the Watch Party will qualify the donor for the drawing.
“My relationships with Xavier graduates, fellow fans, and administrators has proven to me the value of the Xavier community and the excellence of the University,” Bell said. “I’m not a graduate, but I am an AFO Fund member and basketball season ticket holder. I bleed blue and will do anything I can to support Xavier.”
