Dr. Alexandra Schoeny-Thurman In repertoire spanning from Monteverdi to Gregory Spears, Alexandra Schoeny is known for her versatility and engaging stage presence. With a voice hailed as "hauntingly beautiful" by Opera News, she is equally praised for her convincing character portrayals as she "embodies melodrama with flair," (Broadway World).

Equally at home on the concert and opera stage, roles include Pamina, Donna Anna, First Lady, Adina, Micäela, and Cunegonde. She sang Miss Lightfoot in the world premiere of Gregory Spears’ Fellow Travelers in 2016. Oratorio appearances include Beethoven’s 9 th Symphony, Brahms’ Requiem, Carmina Burana, Mozart Requiem and Mass in C minor, Handel Solomon, Dixit Dominus, and Messiah, Haydn Lord Nelson Mass and Theresienmesse, Bach St. Matthew Passion, Mass in B minor, Magnificat, and various cantatas.

She is the co-founder of Breath Collective, a production company whose projects include performances by The Union, a 26-voice professional ensemble, as well as various social events centered around vocal music.

Dr. Schoeny-Thurman received her DMA from the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, a Master of Opera from the Royal Conservatoire of the Hague, Master of Music from the Royal Academy of Music in London, and her B.M. from Northwestern University.
