Biography

Musicologist Douglas Easterling's research interests include Richard Strauss, the intersection of literary theory and music, and vocal improvisation and ornamentation in popular music. He has taught graduate and undergraduate level classes at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and currently teaches The Art of Listening, a music appreciation course at Xavier University. He sings regularly with Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati and with the Cathedral Choir of St. Peter in Chains Cathedral and is co-founder of the River City Ensemble, an a cappella vocal ensemble that performs a variety of genres.
