Born in Wilmington, North Carolina, LTC Leslie A. Stanfield graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk Virginia in 2006 with a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice and received his commission from Army ROTC in Military Intelligence with a branch detail in Armor.  He completed his Masters Degree in Intelligence Studies at American Military University in 2021. 

LTC Stanfield entered into active service in 2006, initially serving in the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood Texas, in Maddog Tank Company where he took his Tank Platoon to Ninewah Province, Iraq for 15 months. He then served at Fort Benning as an Armor Battalion S2 deployed to OIF at FOB Kalsu and the HHC BSTB Commander where he deployed his company to Kuwait and supported missions across the Middle East.  Following command, he transitioned to Albany State University as an Assistant Professor of Military Science at Albany Georgia. Upon completion he was assigned 1st Armored Division Fort Bliss, TX, where he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in support of OIR as the Coalition Joint Force Land Component Collection Manager; subsequently assumed duties as the Division Artillery Brigade S2 in May 2018.  In 2019, he was posted into a NATO assignment to serve as the Joint Capabilities Intelligence Assessments Section Chief at the NATO Joint Force Command in Brunssum, Netherlands.  LTC Stanfield currently serves as the Professor of Military Science of Xavier University in Cincinnati Ohio.

His military education includes the Armor Officer Basic Course, the US Army Basic Airborne Course, the Unmanned Arial System Unit Commander and Staff Leaders Course, the Military Intelligence Captains Career Course, Command General Staff College, Army Space Basic Course, US Army Special Technical Operations Course, Signal Intel Officer Course, Geospatial Intel Officer Course, and a National Systems Development Program graduate.

His personal decorations include the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Valorous Unit Award, the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), the Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), the Parachutist Badge, the Order of Saint George (Armor Association), the Knowlton Award (Military Intelligence Association) and the Order of Saint Barbara (Field Artillery Association). He is married to the former Kelly Lynn Barnett of Yorktown, Virginia and they have three girls: Mallory, Emma, and Bella.
